"The history of fashion reveals that function and fashion are not an “either-or” case. They coexist in three relationships – “fashion over function”, “function over fashion” and “fashion is function”. Although there is tension between the diametrical pair, fashion and function never fully replace one another. It is because they are a scale, a spectrum, and a perspective of designers and wearers on responding to different contexts over the decades."

Science is actually highly correlated with fashion. It encourages more high-tech
and innovative products, more desirable dressing style and fashion, and more
exchange of fashion ideas.
